• Mail order will reduce your copay by 1/3. You will pay one copay for a 3 month supply.

GENERIC PRESCRIPTIONS

• Food and Drug Administration (FDA) mandates generic prescriptions must have the same active ingredient as name brand.
• You must educate yourself to lower your copay.

OVER THE COUNTER (Limited to below classes)

• Claritin OTC
• Prilosec OTC
  • If your doctor approves trying OTC, your copay will be zero ($0)
    
• Please show your doctor your prescription documentation from AARP and Consumer Reports websites comparing prescriptions effectiveness and side effects.
• Inform doctor you are subject to 5% copay for brand name prescription.
• Will doctor approve you using a lower cost-same effective-same side effects prescription?
• Please inform your doctor: for all new prescriptions your plan now uses step therapy. Please write on your new prescription “Step Therapy Prescription Substitute Approved”
